The Story Behind Stockman's Ridge Wines
Jonathan grew up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, where the sun, sand, and surf defined his days. Whilst the days comprised sun and sand, it was the unique stories of the Australian stockmen - their grit, perseverance and deep connection to the land, that fuelled his passion. Inspired, he traded thongs for boots and ventured inland in his early twenties, planting his first vineyard on the wind-sweptslopes of the Central Tablelands.
Fueled by determination and a dream to create wines that truly reflect the land, Stockman's Ridge Wines was born. The first Shiraz, bottles in 2008, was a revelation - winning 8 gold medals and laying the foundation for a flourising winery.
With new plantings now rooted in the richer soils of the Orange wine region, Jonathan remains deeply connected to the land. Today, Stockman's Ridge produces ool-climate wines of substance - Pinot Noir, Grüner Veltliner, Shiraz and even Zinfandel - tell the story of the Orange vineyards. It's this authentic, down-to-earth approach, combined with sustainability and quaity - that has made us one of the most popular wineries in Orange today.
